Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.
LIMESTONE WEEKEND!
Friday, June 25th
3pm: Hamer Cave Hike – Discover the beauty and impact this cave has had on our Pioneer Village. Meet at the grist mill in Pioneer Village. Moderate .25 mile hike. Stairs. 45 minutes.
10pm: Full Moon Hike – Meet Volunteer Anthony at the Lakeview Activity Center for a summertime night hike under the full strawberry moon! Learn some full moon lore and about some of Spring Mill’s nocturnal wildlife. Rugged. 1.5 miles. 1 hour

Saturday, June 26th
9am-5pm: Indiana Limestone Workshop – Create an Indiana limestone carving of your very own. In the lawn near Pioneer Village. Tools and instructor provided by Artisan Experience. $20. For information; 317-406-6688 or artisanexperience.org
11am: Rocks Rock! – Discover the different types of rocks and their properties. Create your own pet rock with Naturalist Morgan. Lakeview Activity Center. 30 minutes.
1pm: Lime kiln Lake Hike – Discover the significance of these kilns and why we have them here. Lakeview Activity Center. Partially Rugged, off-trail hike. 40 minutes.
2pm: Discover Limestone! – Learn about limestone and how it is used. Perform an experiment of your own to see how limestone reacts with vinegar. Lakeview Act. Center. 30 minutes.

Sunday, June 27th

11am: Lime Kiln and Quarry Hike – Discover some more rich history at Pioneer Village with its lime kiln and quarry. Meet outside the Weaver’s Cabin at Pioneer Village. Partially Rugged. 30 minutes.
1pm: Lovely Limestone – What is it? How does it form? How is it used and change over time? Lakeview Activity Center. 25 minutes.
