Weekend Programs at Spring Mill State Park

WEEKEND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS
Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.
Friday, July 23rd
7am: Sunrise Stroll – Bring your park questions to ask Volunteer Tony while you hike Trail 3 through all 3 of Spring Mill’s Nature Preserves. Meet at Twin Caves parking lot. 90 minutes.
11am: Hidden Cave Hike – Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center and hike with Naturalist Emilie to one of our lesser-known caves. Off-trail hiking involved, long pants encouraged. Rugged. 45 minutes.
1pm: Nature Journal Craft – Join Naturalist Morgan to create your own nature journal. When you’re done, you can take it home and record things you find in nature in everyday life. Lakeview Activity Center. 15 minutes.
8pm: Campfire Chat – Learn about what it takes to be a chipmunk. Create your own chipmunk puppet. Lakeview Activity Center. 30 minutes.
Saturday, July 24th
2pm: Creek Stomp – Dip your feet in the cool spring water to help the Naturalist find macroinvertebrates that call this creek home. Meet by the Village Ordinary (concession stand). 30 minutes.
10pm: Full Buck Moon Hike – Meet volunteer Anthony at the Spring Mill Inn front patio for a rugged 2.5 mile hike on trail 4 under the full moon! This hike will include stairs! Good hiking shoes, walking sticks and red flashlights are recommended for night hikes! 1.5 hours.
Sunday, July 25th
11am: Fantastic Birds and Where to Find Them!- Join Naturalist Emilie on a hike around Spring Mill Lake to learn about our native birds and waterfowl and how to identify them. 1 mile. Partially Rugged. 50 minutes.
