4:00 PM SMOKEY BEAR CELEBRATION Smokey Bear is turning 75 years old this year! Wish him a Happy Birthday and learn about his fire prevention message at Spring Mill State Park.
Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center

10:00 PM Nighttime Eyeshine Who’s that watching in the woods? Join Sarah to spot some different animal eyeshine on this easy night hike.
Meet at the Gus Grissom Memorial

SATURDAY

8:00 AM VIRGIL I “GUS” GRISSOM DAY Gus Grissom was the second American in space and was born right here in Mitchell, Indiana. Celebrate this American hero and Hoosier icon with us at the Gus Grissom Memorial.

2:00 PM LET’S GO FLY A ROCKET Learn about aerodynamics and build your own water powered rocket. How high will yours fly?

SUNDAY

9:00 AM INTRODUCTION TO CAVE RIVER VALLEY  Have you been to the property that Spring Mill manages in Washington County? It’s full of history! Prepare to get your feet wet as we hike down to the valley! Bring your water bottle and carpool over for this beautiful hike.
Meet at Donaldson Parking Lot

2:00 PM CHRISTMAS IN JULY STORY AND CRAFT Listen to a special Christmas Story and make a craft from things found in nature! 45 minutes.
Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center

Smokey Bear is visiting Spring Mill State Park and has a special message for you about wildfires. Join part of the naturalist staff in the campground amphitheater to visit Smokey Bear and learn about fire safety!

Owls of Indiana: Come and hear all about owls and their cool adaptions! Listen their sounds and learn the Barred Owl call. Front patio of the Inn.

Guided Lake Hike: Join the naturalist on a one hour hike around the beautiful Spring Mill lake. Hear all about the plants and animals that live in and around it.

Movie Night: Head over to the Elm Room at the Spring Mill Inn to watch The Secret Life of Pets 2 while enjoying some yummy snacks!

Donaldson Cave Hike: Meet the Naturalist at the Inn front patio to go on a rugged hike to Donaldson Cave. Along the way, learn about the Scottish explorer who its names after!

Cave River Valley Hike: Meet at the Donaldson Shelter Parking lot to follow Tony to another Park Property 15 minutes down the road. Once you get there, join him on a hike in one of Indiana’s lesser known beauties!
