Have fun at Spring Mill State Park by participating in all of the fun programs that are put on by the Park Naturalists and volunteers!
This weekened:
FRIDAY
7:00 pm: History of Indiana State Park Inns
Meet Tony at Spring Mill Inn’s back patio to hear all about our Inns, specifically about Spring Mill Inn’s history.
SATURDAY
11:00 am: Opossum Party
Hang out (preferably by your tail) with Sarah in the Lakeview Activity Center as we celebrate the only marsupial found in North America!
1:00 pm: Rivers, Roads and Rails:
Mapping the Transportation History of Spring Mill and Lawrence County with old and new maps and photos. Don’t miss this special presentation by David Nord Professor Emeritus.
3:00 pm: Autumn Views Guided Hike
Meet Chris at the pool parking lot for a scenic walk of nature’s autumn splendor on our mountain bike trail. 2 miles. Moderate.
SUNDAY
1:00 pm: Modeling Mushrooms
Gilled, pored, or toothed, how will you model your mushroom? Join Sarah in the Lakeview Activity Center to create a mushroom model of your own and uncover the basics of mushroom identification! 45 minutes.
2:00 pm: CCC History Hike
Meet Anthony at Weaver’s Cabin in the Pioneer Village for a 30 minute moderate hike Learn all about the contributions the Civilian Conservation Corps have made to Spring Mill State Park and see how their legacy lives on in the park to this day.

How is your vision at night? Certain spider eyes are made for the night! Grab a flashlight and join Sarah for a short hike to spot spiders.

11:00 AM Creek Stomp
Feel the cool spring water on your feet as you explore the bugs who call this creek home! Meet Sarah to get wet and have fun!

1:00 PM Karst Country Hike
Meet our newest naturalist, Gail, for a hike on trail 6. Short, easy hike.
Easy | .25 Mile
Grissom Memorial Parking Lot
9:00 PM Full Harvest Moon Hike
Meet Anthony and Chris for an approximately 1 hour 30 minute hike along Trail 3. Enjoy the sights and sounds of night-time at the Park.
Rugged | 2.5 Mile
Spring Mill Inn Front Patio

10:00 AM Hike Trail 3
Join Sarah on a guided hike through trail 3. We will see sites special to Spring Mill from Bronson Cave to Donaldson Woods and everything in between! Bring a water bottle!

Meet at Twin Caves Parking Lot
2:00 PM Beautiful Box Turtles
Join us to view a live Box Turtle and learn about their interesting lives.

WEEKEND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS
Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.
Friday, May 28th
9pm: Full Moon Hike – Meet Anthony at the Lakeview Activity Center for a relaxing moon lit hike around Spring Mill Lake and learn about May’s Full Flower Moon. Partially rugged. 1 hour.
Saturday, May 29th
11am: Snake Talk – Learn what it means to be a snake. Meet two of our resident snakes. Lakeview Activity Center. 30 minutes.
2pm: Creek Stomp –Feel the cool spring water on your feet as you explore who calls this creek home. Meet by Pioneer Village Concessions (Ordinary). 30 minutes.
3pm: Stagecoach Trail Hike – Meet the naturalist by the Grist Mill in Pioneer Village to learn about this historic trail and its importance. .5 miles. Moderately Rugged. 30 minutes.
Sunday, May 30th
11am: Box Turtle Talk – Learn about box turtles while meeting a live one. Lakeview Activity Center. 20 minutes.
3pm: Glade Hike – Meet the naturalist at Donaldson Cave Parking lot for a .5 mile, moderate hike to see and hear about this important area in our park. 30 minutes.
Monday, May 31st
11am: Salamander Social – Join Naturalist Morgan to discover the cool Indiana salamanders including the endangered Snot Otter! Create some slime to take home. Lakeview Activity Center. 30 minutes.
1pm: Hamer Cemetery Tour – Meet Naturalist Emilie at Hamer Cemetery to learn about the history of our village and explore the mystery of some unmarked graves. 30 minutes.
