A WEEK FULL OF FUN

MONDAY

WINDOW WALK Take a walk through Downtown and view the festive window displays of our local merchants. Window displays will be judged by Quinn O’Sullivan, a professional Space Maker in New York City. The winning display will be announced on Saturday, October 12.

SHOP THE SQUARE Shop at the participating Downtown merchants for a chance to win a grand prize package worth over $100! The winner will be announced Saturday October 12 around 5:00 p.m.

 

TUESDAY

WALKING TOUR Join us for a guided architectural tour of historic Downtown Bedford. The tour will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Lawrence County Museum.

WEDNESDAY

BEDFORD’S JOURNEY A Journey Through Space – Bedford astronaut, Charlie Walker, and other local contributors to the space program will join moderator Marla Jones at the Lawrence County Museum of History in Downtown Bedford to discuss contributions to the space program and share ten things you may not know about the Apollo Space Program. Lunch is included with a $10 donation. Program will start at noon. Seating is limited. Please RSVP bedfordjourney@gmail.com

SATURDAY

BEDFORD BED RACE Decorate your bed and race it around the CourtHouse! That’s right! CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE!

FALL MARKET An extension of the Bedford Farmers Market will include extra vendors and craft booths! 8 am – 6 pm

CHILI BOWL Local Churches & non-profit organizations will be selling concessions, including their BEST chili recipes in hopes of garnering the traveling “Chili Bowl” trophy & / or winning the People’s Choice Award! Bring your appetite to support these groups by purchasing food & casting your vote for best chili with $1.00 votes.

FIRESIDE Are you the best storyteller in Bedford? Do you want to hear some of the best stories in Bedford? Join us at StoneGate Arts & Education Center (Shawna M. Girgis Building) from 7pm to 8:30pm. 7:00 pm:  History of Indiana State Park Inns
Meet Tony at Spring Mill Inn’s back patio to hear all about our Inns, specifically about Spring Mill Inn’s history.

 

SATURDAY

11:00 am:  Opossum Party
Hang out (preferably by your tail) with Sarah in the Lakeview Activity Center as we celebrate the only marsupial found in North America!

1:00 pm:  Rivers, Roads and Rails:
Mapping the Transportation History of Spring Mill and Lawrence County with old and new maps and photos.  Don’t miss this special presentation by David Nord Professor Emeritus.

3:00 pm:  Autumn Views Guided Hike
Meet Chris at the pool parking lot for a scenic walk of nature’s autumn splendor on our mountain bike trail. 2 miles. Moderate.

 

SUNDAY

1:00 pm: Modeling Mushrooms
Gilled, pored, or toothed, how will you model your mushroom? Join Sarah in the Lakeview Activity Center to create a mushroom model of your own and uncover the basics of mushroom identification! 45 minutes.

2:00 pm:  CCC History Hike
Meet Anthony at Weaver’s Cabin in the Pioneer Village for a 30 minute moderate hike Learn all about the contributions the Civilian Conservation Corps have made to Spring Mill State Park and see how their legacy lives on in the park to this day.
