10:00 AM Monarch Madness
Who is eating all our milkweed!? Join Sarah to learn all about the amazing Monarch Butterfly
Meet at Lakeview Activity Center

1:00 PM Make a Tree Cookie Ornament
Certain types of cookies we can learn from! Learn about tree rings and how they help tell us about their own history. Then, create a special ornament to take home!
Meet at Lakeview Activity Center

7:00 PM Sunset Stroll
Take an easy stroll on Spring Mill’s paved loop and hear about the eccentric Scotsman, George Donaldson.  30 Minutes.
Meet at Donaldson Shelter Parking Lot

 

SATURDAY

10:00 AM Rubble Springs Hike
Come explore a hidden cave and all its beauty with Tony on this rugged, off trail hike. 45 minutes.
Meet at Lakeview Activity Center

1:00 PM Limestone Kiln Hike
Uncover the history of Spring Mill’s limestone kilns and take a hike to view two of them that are often surpassed by guests. Rugged Hike. 45 minutes

6:30 PM Perfect Pines
Spring Mill is celebrating Christmas in July at the Campground. Join Sheree and learn all about pines as you make a pine cone bird feeder. * PEANUT ALLERGY WARNING*
Meet at Campground Amphitheater

 

SUNDAY

11:00 AM Hamer Cemetery Tour
Take a stroll with Sheree through the Pioneer Cemetery to hear stories of the past.

10:00 PM Spider Eyes
How is your vision at night? Certain spider eyes are made for the night! Grab a flashlight and join Sarah for a short hike to spot spiders.

SATURDAY

11:00 AM Creek Stomp
Feel the cool spring water on your feet as you explore the bugs who call this creek home! Meet Sarah to get wet and have fun!
Village Ordinary

1:00 PM Karst Country Hike
Meet our newest naturalist, Gail, for a hike on trail 6.  Short, easy hike.
Easy | .25 Mile
Grissom Memorial Parking Lot

9:00 PM Full Harvest Moon Hike
Meet Anthony and Chris for an approximately 1 hour 30 minute hike along Trail 3. Enjoy the sights and sounds of night-time at the Park.
Rugged | 2.5 Mile
Spring Mill Inn Front Patio

10:00 AM Hike Trail 3
Join Sarah on a guided hike through trail 3. We will see sites special to Spring Mill from Bronson Cave to Donaldson Woods and everything in between! Bring a water bottle!

Meet at Twin Caves Parking Lot

2:00 PM Beautiful Box Turtles
Join us to view a live Box Turtle and learn about their interesting lives.

Have fun at Spring Mill State Park by participating in all of the fun programs that are put on by the Park Naturalists and volunteers!

SATURDAY

10:00 am:  Trail 3 guided hike
Meet Chris at Twin Caves’ parking lot.  Learn about George Donaldson, an interesting “Naturalist”, and view the beautiful landscape he helped to preserve.  Partially rugged. 2 hours.

1:00 pm:  Hooray for Hibernation!
If you snooze you lose so join Sarah in the Lakeview Activity Center as we discuss the different animals preparing for a long winter’s nap in Spring Mill.

 

SUNDAY

9:00 am – 3:00 pm:  Women’s Learing Circle – Invasive Species
Free workshop for women land owners to learn how invasive species impact your property, how to identify invasive species, and how to control them.  Must pre-register by emailing Danielle at  dwilliams@pheasantsforever.org.

9:30 am:  Hamer Cemetery
Meet Chris at the Hamer Cemetery parking area to hear about the history and significance of this Pioneer Cemetery.

11:00 am:  Learning Lichen
Learn to love Lichen with Sarah at the Lakeview Activity Center. On the surface, they might seem drab, but by digging deeper we can uncover their beauty!

1:30 pm:  Tree ID Hike
Ever wonder what trees are here at Spring Mill?  Meet Gail at Oak Ridge Shelter to hike trail 7 and learn about our state tree and more.  1.75 miles, easy hike.  30 minutes.
