Did you know that bats are beneficial to us? Sure, they may not be the cutest things, but they eat those annoying bugs that give us the creepy-crawlies. If you want to learn more about these interesting little guys, then join us in this interactive program at the Lakeview Activity Center in Spring Mill.

The month of June is dedicated to learning the history and geology of Lawrence County. A big part of Lawrence County is the pride of being known as the “Limestone Capital of the World.” Almost everywhere that you step foot, limestone is beneath your feet. The Empire State Building, the Yankee Stadium, the Pentagon and Grand Central Station have all been built with limestone right from our own county.

During the month of June, different events and tours will occur throughout the rolling hills of Lawrence County. Here are some things you won’t want to miss:

Land of Limestone Exhibit, Limestone Heritage Festival, Limestone Weekend at Spring Mill State Park, Annual Gem Mineral Fossil Show
