WEEKEND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.

Saturday, February 6th:
1pm:  Hidden Cave Hike –REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Off trail hike to Author’s Pocket.  Register at sbelt@dnr.in.gov or 812-849-3534.  1 hour.  Rugged.

Sunday, February 7th:
1pm:  CCC History Hike – REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Meet our volunteer, Anthony, at Sycamore Shelter in the village parking lot to learn all about the many contributions the boys of the Civilian Conservation Corps. made to Spring Mill State Park! Rugged 1 mile hike along part of Trail 4.  Register at sbelt@dnr.in.gov or 812-849-3534.   45 minutes

WINE AND CANVAS

Enjoy a glass of wine or sparkling juice with appetizers as you join the naturalist for a fall nature painting.  This will be a beginner painting with step by step instructions. All painting supplies provided.

Winter Tree ID Workshop

Dale Weigel and Teena Ligman will be at Spring Mill State Park to teach you about tree identification in winter.

SESSION 1 Thursday, Feb. 13
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Learn buds, bark, and more! Meet us in the Lakeview Activity Center.  Materials and refreshments available.

SESSION 2 Saturday, Feb. 15
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Return Saturday for field portion!  Meet at Gus Grissom Memorial to hike Trail 6.

 

Attending both sessions is encouraged, but not required.
