SANTA AT THE GRISSOM HOUSE You and your family are invited to the Grissom Boyhood Home to visit with Santa! Make reindeer food, join in on a scavenger hunt and enjoy a glass of milk with donuts. Don't forget your camera! This is also a wonderful chance to take a look through astronaut, Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom's boyhood home. Volunteers have decorated the home for the holidays with 1950's vintage flare!

A MEMORIAL TO GUS GRISSOM There will be a service to mark the 53rd anniversary of the tragic death of local astronaut and hero, Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom. Join us at Grissom's Boyhood Home and take a moment to remember the test-launch accident that took the lives of Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee. GRISSOM BOYHOOD HOME TOURS Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom is a hero in Lawrence County. Gus, a Mitchell native and military veteran, was one of the first Americans to fly into space. He is one of three astronauts from Lawrence County. The house that he grew up in is still here -  opening its doors for space lovers, historians and families to visit and enjoy. GRISSOM BOYHOOD HOME TOURS Visit the home that Lawrence County astronaut, Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom, grew up in. His boyhood home sits in the heart of Mitchell, Indiana. Inside, visitors will see time-period decorations and items that were actually owned by Gus and his family. The 56th anniversary of the Apollo One disaster and the death of Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom, Roger Chaffee and Ed White will be Friday, Jan. 27. Gather at the Grissom Boyhood Home at 6:00 pm. A short program will commence at 6:15 pm, leading up to the time of the disaster. A moment of silence will close the program.

Stop by the Grissom Boyhood Home on Dec 16 any time between 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM to help us find him. You can become honorary elf for the night to help search for Jolly, the head elf.
