GRISSOM MEMORIAL

Located within Spring Mill State Park, the Grissom Memorial pays tribute to Mitchell’s native son, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom. The memorial is a tribute to the Mitchell-born astronaut who was a pioneer in America’s exploration of outer space. The interactive museum features exhibits and actual mementoes from Grissom’s space travels, including a space suit and an actual capsule he piloted. Open daily year round, 8:30am-4pm. Closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
