Limestone Weekend at Spring Mill State Park

Saturday, June 25th
Limestone Weekend!
9am-5pm: Limestone Carving – Join limestone carving artists, David and Brenda, to learn how to carve your own piece of limestone. $25 (cash only) to carve your own piece of limestone to take home with you. Pioneer Village lawn.
11am: Lime Kiln Hike– Meet Naturalist Morgan at the Lakeview Activity Center to discover the importance of the kilns that can be found around Spring Mill Lake. Partially rugged off-trail hike. 40 mins.
2pm: Limestone Discovery Hike– Hike with Naturalist Emilie on Trail 4 and find multiple parts of the park that are connected to limestone. Rugged. 2 miles. 1.5 hrs.
7pm: Evening Kayak Trip– Join Carol and Sheree on Spring Mill Lake for a 1 hour kayak trip to discover how the CCC helped bring the lake to life. Bring your own kayak or canoe. None available for rent. Limited to 50 boats. Registration required. Reserve your spot by contacting Sheree at 812-849-3534 or sbelt@dnr.in.gov. Waivers must be filled out upon arrival. Lifejackets required.
Sunday, June 26th

10am: Trail 7 Hike– Meet Naturalist Emilie at the Tulip Poplar Shelter House for an easy hike around Trail 7 and learn some tree identification along the way. 1 mile. 45 mins.
11am: CCC History Hike in the Village– Join Carol for a walk through the village to hear the stories behind some of our most beloved CCC structures found there. Village Parking Lot. Meet at the Village parking lot. 1 hour.
1 pm Lake Hike– Join Naturalist Morgan on a hike around the Spring Mill Lake to see some limestone outcroppings along the trail. Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center. Moderately Rugged. 1 mile.1 hour.
