Monroe Lake’s naturalist, Jill Vance, will be the speaker for the Lawrence County History Center’s membership meeting! The presentation is free and OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Before Monroe Lake was built, the Salt Creek Valley was full of small towns, farms, and cemeteries. When the Army Corps of Engineers decided to build a reservoir here, they identified eight cemeteries that needed to be relocated. This is the story of those cemeteries, how the graves were disinterred, and where they ended up. 60 minutes
