Weekend Programs at Spring Mill State Park

INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

Spring Mill State Park is the best place to be on a sunny summer day! Check out the weekend programs they have:

Friday, July 1st

9am:  July Trail Challenge Series – Join Tony for a hike every Friday at 9am in July to complete all the trails in the park.  Earn your Trail Challenge Sticker.  Today’s hike is Trail 4 & 6.  Meet at Grissom Memorial parking lot. Trail 4 is rugged.  2 hours.

2pm: Kayaking with the Naturalist -Join Naturalist Morgan on a kayaking trip around the lake while learning about what makes our lake special. Bring your own kayak to participate. Lifejackets required, ages 13 and up. Advanced registration required, limited to 30 participants. Please email mapple@dnr.in.gov for information. 1 hour.

7 pm: Snake Talk- Meet Emilie at the campground amphitheater to learn about the snakes of Indiana and meet our two resident snakes. 30 mins.

 

Saturday, July 2nd

11 am: Natural Dyes -Learn about dyes made from things you can find in your backyard or in the food section of a grocery store! Meet Morgan at the Lakeview Activity Center Back Patio. 20 minutes.

1 pm: Creek Stomp– Meet Naturalist Emilie by the Village Ordinary (concession stand) and feel the cool spring water while you help her find the macroinvertebrates that call Mill Creek home. 30 mins.

Sunday, July 3rd

11 am: Land of the Free, Home of the Bald Eagle– Meet Emilie at the Lakeview Activity Center to learn about our national symbol’s role in Indiana and create your own Bald Eagle out of popsicle sticks! 30 mins.

2 pm: State Park Jeopardy– See if you know the ins and outs of our beautiful state parks with Naturalist Morgan! Lakeview Activity Center. Prizes will be awarded. 20 minutes.
