If you have missed the last few chances to go on a hike at Cave River Valley, now is your chance. Meet Spring Mill volunteer, Tony, at the Donaldson parking lot. Then, follow him 15 miles down the road to this very special place that only a few people have heard of.

The hike will be rugged. So, make sure you dress appropriately.

Spend the weekend at Spring Mill State Park learning about caves!

On Saturday, the Lakeview Activity Center will be hosting many guest speakers and will have information tables about caving.

Take a 2 hour tour through the Endless Cave. Sign up by emailing sbelt@dnr.in.gov or calling (812)849-3534.

Many other cave related programs will be happening throughout the weekend! Don’t miss out.

Bluespring Caverns

Guides pilot custom-made boats along the subterranean river for over a mile, pointing out native rare Northern blind cave fish and blind crawfish and explain the natural forces that are yet at work creating great chambers below the rolling hills of southern Indiana.

All day: Quilting demonstration, nature weaving, pioneer toys and games, needle felting demonstration

August 3 Saturday

10:00 to 4:00 Pioneer lawn games (Mill Lawn)

11:00 drop by the toy table in the upper residence and make a thaumatrope (a pioneer toy that proves the persistence of vision)

12:00 to 3:00 Drop by the toy table on the upper residence lawn to see what kind of toys pioneer children played with

12:30 Clay craft at the Meeting house

1:30 Make a leather lacing and bead bracelet (Leather shop)

2:30 Sawmill demonstration

3:30 Play the Game of Graces. This is game has been played since the 1500’s a fun game played with hoops and sticks (Lawn beside the distillery)

4:00 the Story of Sam Bass notorious outlaw connected to the weaver’s cabin find out how (Weaver’s Cabin)
