Learn about George Donaldson and his relation to Spring Mill State Park and Ireland. Anthony, a volunteer, will be throwing out some other St. Patrick’s Day fun facts while you venture on the 30 minute rugged hike. Wear comfortable shoes!
Meet at the front patio of the Spring Mill Inn.
Make a special “bat craft” and learn some interesting facts about Indiana’s bats. After you are done, take a rugged hike down to Donaldson Cave. Feel free to explore the cave after the hike is over. Bring a flash light and some clothes that can get dirty!
Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center.
Join the Naturalist at Donaldson Shelter parking lot to take a rugged hike to Donaldson Cave. Listen to stories about the Scottish explorer that the cave is named after. If you decide to enter the cave, you will want to wear clothes that you can get dirty!

All supplies are included for this free event. Prior registration is required because space is limited. Join Spring Mill to learn about the role Limestone has played (and continues to play) in our park as wall as our community. Also take a look at some of its uses and shaping of our landscape. Meet at Village Grist Mill.
1:00 PM Hiking Rocks
Lawrence County is famous for its Limestone. Meet Aaron for a short hike on Trail 4 and learn all about Indiana’s famed stone. Moderate 45 minute hike. Meet at Village Parking Lot.

8:30am: Birding Hike – Meet the naturalist at the Lakeview Activity Center to hear about some of Indiana’s birds of winter. After, we’ll head out for a hike to find some feathered friends. Bring your own Binoculars. Moderate hike. 90 minutes.
Sunday, February 14th:
1pm: Nature Valentines Hike – Join the naturalist on a hike on Trail 5 as we look for natural objects in the shape of a heart. Bring your camera to take pictures. What other unusual shapes/things might we find along the way? 1 mile, partially rugged.
