The Avalons

The Avalons (formerly Sh-Boom) had its birth in 1987 when two fellow broadcasters at an oldies station with a love for 50s and 60s rock decided they could produce an excellent show! They decided that they wanted to be a show with all the entertainment elements…costumes, choreography, audience participation and wacky humor, instead of just another band that played oldies. A wacky comedy style evolved along with the music and their great 4 part harmonies were complemented with one zany bit after another.

Within a few years, they were headlining at fairs and festivals around the midwest and east coast. They were soon opening for scores of legendary artists like The Temptations, The Four Tops, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and others. A four day engagement at Springfest in Ocean City, Maryland, landed them a long term association and even more opportunities to open for acts like The Beach Boys, The Smothers Brothers, America, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons and even country acts like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Colin Raye, Marty Stewart and dozens of others. Everywhere, they left audiences applauding their great harmonies, howling at their wacky comedy, and praising them for recreating so many warm memories of the 50’s and 60’s.

Robert Lester began playing and singing at the age of 13. His biggest influence has been the Stanley Brothers. He first began performing professionally with his band, Keeping Tradition, in 2004. The band recorded one album, which featured Mitchell Van Dyke on the banjo and James Price on the fiddle. One song from the album, “A Robin Built a Nest on Daddy’s Grave,” was featured on a compilation CD by Simm’s Records in Nashville! THE LICK CREEK BAND

“The Lick Creek Band plays a unique brand of “Eclectic Acoustic Music.” Tight vocal harmony is the most distinctive feature of the group. They have performed in hundreds of venues throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Blending guitar and bass, Lick Creek affectionately renders rock, pop, jazz, and original music into their back porch tuneful stylings. Regardless of the genre, you’ll still hear the sweetness of informal back porch jam sessions combined with tight vocal harmony & the musical connection shared by good friends.”

“The pride of Indiana, Lloyd Wood is one of the most consistently successful entertainers in the state. Lloyd has been performing in Indiana since 1978 and is nationally recognized for his contributions to the country music industry. Lloyd is also a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash: the highest honor bestowed by an Indiana Governor.

As a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and vocal impressionist, Lloyd first gained a solid regional following as Lloyd Wood and the Little Nashville Express, the house band for the Little Nashville Opry. They opened the show for most of the bigger acts in country music in the late 1970s and early 80s and gained a following among regional country fans.

Lloyd couldn’t perform without showing off his impressive impersonations of the likes of George Jones, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Elvis, and Marty Robbins, as well as Walter Brennan, Jimmy Stewart, Gabby Hayes and Tiny Tim.

Whether performing before a large audience or doing a benefit, this man loves the Lord, along with his family, community, and country. He loves to entertain and it shows. He is respected by all his music peers. Not only will you enjoy his music but also his humor, which is why it is called the Lloyd Wood Show.”

THE MARLINS

“You’ve never heard a group of entertainers quite like the Marlins! These four brothers – Gary, Jace, Rick, and Robert – have been performing together for over 25 years for conventions, fairs, festivals, and corporate events in the U.S. and Canada. They have shared the stage with such luminaries as Lee Greenwood, The Smothers Brothers, Randy Travis, The Association, Merv Griffin, and others. In 2012, the Marlins’ original song “I Believe in America” was included in the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City.

The Marlins’ repertoire covers the entire musical spectrum including country, rock, big band, pop, classical, jazz, and bluegrass. Whether it’s a show, dance, or quiet dinner music, they feel right at home – in short, music for any occasion or age group. A Marlins concert might include music from such diverse artists as Glen Miller, Willie Nelson, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Liberace, Neil Diamond, Sinatra, Elvis, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and Tiny Tim.”

THE RIGBYS

“The Rigbys audience ranges in age from 5 to 85. The “Baby Boomers” emotionally thank the band for taking them back to a happier more care free time, making them “feel young again”! The Rigbys offer an alternative to Beatle “look alike bands” that often appear like caricatures, and perform only a narrow period of the Beatles music. You will continuously get a VARIETY OF MUSIC as The Rigbys take you from 1962 up to the present, and then back again. You’ll get all the many styles of music recorded by The Beatles as a group, and as solo artists… Rock & Roll, pop ballads, dance, swinging 60’s sound. With the huge song selection, you can never predict what is coming your way next!”
