Mitchell Indiana

See the gun smoke and hear the “boom” of the battle cannons as you watch the exciting Civil War Reenactments at Spring Mill State Park.  These events are held in the historical Pioneer Village which provides you with an amazing, realistic view of what these battles may have looked like back in the day. If you get to the Village earlier, you and your family will also get a chance to learn more about the lives of soldiers and civilians during the Civil War. They will open at 11:30.

CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT

Civil War battle reenactments are fought in the Pioneer Village and the surrounding trails and hills.  Before and after the battle, you will have a chance to visit with Union and Confederate soldiers reenactors and pioneer volunteers. Warm yourself by a camp fire and learn about life in the Civil War days.

This year, Abraham Lincoln will be speaking about the Civil War in the Pioneer Village before the reenactments. He will be in the Grist Mill at 1:15 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

IKERD AT THE OPERA HOUSE

“Cody Ikerd and the Sidewinders will be performing live at the Mitchell Opera House on January 18th at 7 PM! He has played the drums for 12 years in a variety of different bands and in the past 6 years, also picked up the guitar. There is just something about the old country songs that Cody loves and is drawn to. He strives for the Merle Haggard, Hank Jr., Johnny Paycheck, Jamey Johnson, and Waylon Jennings types of music. The group has had the opportunity to open for the Kentucky Headhunters as well as Nashville’s Mark Collie. This band is one to see!”
