Interpretive Programs at Spring Mill State Park

Spring Mill State Park

Friday, August 27th

1 pm: Furry Friends– Join Naturalist Morgan to feel what our native furry animals feel like. Learn why a mammal’s fur is so important to them. Lakeview Activity Center. 25 minutes.

Saturday, August 28th

10 am: Hike to the Mill- Meet volunteer Anthony at the Donaldson Cave parking lot. Have you ever wondered how the name “Spring Mill” came to be for this State Park?  Learn all about it and see the park’s namesake on this short but slightly rugged hike on part of trail 4.
.75 mile. 1 hour.

11 am: Twin Caves, Bronson Cave and Virgin Timber Hike– Please join Chris at the Twin Caves parking lot to learn the history of these special features. Moderate with Stairs. 45 minutes.

1 pm: Snake Talk Meet Naturalist Emilie at the Lakeview Activity Center to learn about the snakes of Indiana and meet our two resident snakes. 25 minutes.  

 

Sunday, August 29th  

11 am: Hamer Cave Hike-  Please join Chris to learn about the area where this Historic Valley began in 1814. Moderate with Stairs. Meet at Village Grist Mill. 45 minutes.

1 pm: Donaldson Cave Hike– Meet Naturalist Emilie by Sycamore Shelter to hike to Donaldson Cave. Learn about the Shawnee Cave system and the man this cave gets its name from. Rugged. 45 minutes.
