National Public Lands Day – Spring Mill

NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

The fourth Saturday in September is National Public Lands Day! Take this time to go and enjoy the great outdoors. Spring Mill State Park is full of fun things to do. Take a stroll through the Pioneer Village or ride your bike along the mountain bike trail. Today is also Free Fishing Day; so, visitors without a license have an opportunity to try the hobby for free!

Saturday, September 25th
Free Fishing Day! – Grab a pole and enjoy a day out on Spring Mill Lake. Need a fishing pole? Stop by the Lakeview Activity Center between 10am-3pm to borrow a pole and bait.
10am-4pm: Volunteer Trash-Pick up – Join us for National Public Lands Day by hiking our trails and helping to pick up any trash. Bring your trash bag to the Lakeview Activity Center for a small prize. Learn about other volunteer opportunities and our awesome pin and patch programs!

Sunday, September 26th
1pm: Hamer Cemetery Tour – Join Chris to learn the history behind this cemetery that dates back to 1832. Hamer Cemetery. 30 minutes
3pm: National Public Lands Day Hike –The Civilian Conservation Corps set a great example of stewardship of our public lands- learn about their contributions to Spring Mill State Park on a slightly rugged 1 mile hike. Meet our volunteer Anthony at the Sycamore Shelter. 45 minutes
