WEEKEND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.

Saturday, December 12^th

1pm:  Cave River Valley Hike – Come explore this beautiful, primitive property managed by Spring Mill.  Meet Tony at Donaldson parking lot and car pool 15 miles to CRV.  2 hour hike. Very Rugged.  Boots recommended.

6:30pm:  3^rd annual Glow in the Dark Night Hike – Start a new tradition with your family!  Join our naturalist on this fun 1 mile easy hike on Trail 7 that will be lit up with battery operated candles for the night.  Learn about creatures of the night and their winter survival skills.  Meet at Tulip Poplar Shelter.

Sunday, December 13^th

1pm:  Limestone Hike – Discover what the geology of Spring Mill tells us about the history of this area.  Meet Anthony at Spring Mill Inn front patio.  Partially rugged hike on trails 1 and 4; 45

Saturday, December 5^th

11am:  Donaldson Cave Hike – Meet the naturalist at Sycamore Shelter for a hike on Trail 4 to Donaldson Cave.  Learn more about our caves and George Donaldson’s part in conserving areas of our park.  .5 mile, partially rugged.  45 minutes.

1pm:  All Things Spring Mill Lake –   Join the naturalist at the Lakeview Activity Center for an 1 mile hike around the lake.  1 hour.

Sunday, December 6^th

8:30am – Beginning Birding Hike – Meet the naturalist at the Lakeview Activity Center to hear about some of Indiana’s birds that are here through the winter.  After, we’ll head out for a hike to find some feathered friends.  Bring your own Binoculars.  1 mile rugged hike.  90 minute program.

Saturday, November 28^th

11am:  Hidden Cave Hike – Join Tony for a moderate off trail hike to one of our hidden caves, Rubble Springs.  Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center.  1 hour.     

7pm:  Full Beaver Moon Hike – Learn all about the Full Beaver Moon and the adaptions of the American Beaver that calls Spring Mill his home.  Meet Anthony at the Lakeview Activity Center for a 1 mile, moderate hike around the lake.
