WEEKEND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.

January 23rd
1pm:  Cave River Valley Hike – Come explore this beautiful, primitive property managed by Spring Mill.  Meet Tony at Donaldson parking lot to follow him in your car 15 miles to CRV.  2 hour hike. Very Rugged.  Water-proof/rubber boots highly recommended.

Saturday, February 27th

9am-4pm:  Fish Printing (gyotaku) Workshop:  Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese form of art that fisherman used over 100 years ago to keep a record of the fish that they caught.  Reserve a time slot on the hour between 9am-4pm to come learn a little about the history behind this art while also finding out what is swimming in Spring Mill lake today.  Make your own fish print using our paper or bring your own piece of cloth such as a pillow case, handkerchief, etc.  (something that won’t get washed often)  40 minutes. Only one family/friend group or individual per time slot. Masks required.  Call 812-849-3534 or email Sheree at sbelt@dnr.in.gov to reserve your time slot.   $2 per person.

7pm:  Full Moon Hike – Join Anthony for a 1 mile moonlit hike.  REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Partially rugged 45 minute hike.  Register at sbelt@dnr.in.gov or 812-849-3534.
