Spring Mill State Park Weekend Programs

WEEKEND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS
Weekends at Spring Mill State Park are never boring! This beautiful park has so much to offer, with the historic Pioneer Village, 9+ miles of hiking, a beautiful lodge & a lake for fishing and kayaking with your friends.
Friday, July 2nd
10am: Nature Preserve Hike – Join Naturalist Emilie for a rugged hike on Trail 3. Hike three nature preserves and learn about our caves, old growth forest, and wildlife along the way. 1.5 hours. 2.5 Miles.
12pm: Saving the Snot Otter – Join Naturalist Morgan to discover the cool Indiana salamanders including the endangered Snot Otter! Create some slime to take home. Lakeview Activity Center. 25 minutes.
3pm: Creature Feature: Owls, our nocturnal friends. Meet Chris at the Lakeview Activity Center ampitheater to learn about these amazing birds. 30 minutes.
Saturday, July 3rd
10am: Snake Talk – Meet Naturalist Emilie at Spring Mill Inn front patio to learn about the snakes of Indiana while meeting our 2 resident snakes. 20 minutes.
11am: Creature Feature Part 2-Turtles and Owls – Join Chris at the Campground ampitheater to learn about 2 of Indiana’s animals. 45 minutes.
1pm: Outdoor Safety Activity – Meet Naturalist Emilie at the Lakeview Activity Center to make a unique bracelet and learn ways to stay safe while still enjoying the outdoors. 30 minutes.
2pm: Creek Stomp – Help Naturalist Morgan find some macroinvertebrates and dip your feet into Mill Creek. Meet by Pioneer Village Concessions (Ordinary). 30 minutes
Sunday, July 4th
10am: Mountain Bike Trail Hike – Meet Naturalist Morgan at the pool parking lot to go for a 2 mile hike on Mountain Bike Trail. Learn about some of our invasive plants and the history behind them. Moderate; 1.5 hours.
11am: Land of the Free, Home of the Bald Eagle – Meet Naturalist Emilie at the Lakeview Activity Center to learn about our national bird and create your own Bald Eagle out of popsicle sticks! 30 minutes.
1pm: Red, White, and Blue Campfire – Join Chris at the campground amphitheater to learn fire building techniques and to learn the differences between the colors you see in a fire. 30 minutes.
