We have put together a weekend road trip, complete with the most exciting stops for you and your canine companion. Whether you are looking for outdoor adventures or delicious eats, these pet-friendly places are perfect for you and your best friend.

Pet Friendly Places to Go

Milwaukee Trail, Bedford

Your pup will love walking (or running) along this 11-mile crushed limestone trail. The beautiful sights of the White River and old railroad bridges make this walk a scenic one.

Spring Mill State Park, Mitchell

Spring Mill State Park is one of Limestone Country’s most beloved spots. The park is filled with hiking trails to be explored, and you will enjoy discovering natural Indiana limestone along the way. If you and your pup are super adventurous, try kayaking on the lake. Dogs are allowed at the park and will love exploring the great outdoors; however, they are not allowed into the Pioneer Village. All dogs must be on a leash that is no longer than 6 ft.

Hoosier National Forest, Bedford

The Hoosier National Forest is filled with Southern Indiana rolling hills that are perfect for playing! The back-country trails and rural crossroad communities make these 203,000 acres a local treasure for both you and your pup.

Holiday Drive-In Theater, Mitchell

Cuddle with your pet while watching a movie, just like at home. Bring your four-legged friend to a double feature on the huge outdoor screen with quality audio through your vehicle’s sound system. Open seasonally, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Williams Covered Bridge, Williams

Walk your best buddy through Indiana’s longest double span covered bridge that crosses the White River. Built in 1884, it is a Howe Truss Design that spans 402 feet. Be sure to “paws” and take in the stunning scenery.

Pet Friendly Places For “Bone” Appetit

McAlister’s Deli, Bedford

McAlister’s Deli is a great spot for lunch or dinner, and their outdoor patio is dog friendly. This is your place for fresh sandwiches, soups and salads. Don’t forget to order a large tea with your meal!

Buffalo Wings and Rings, Bedford

Another popular dog-friendly spot is Buffalo Wings and Rings. This is the perfect place to catch a game and grab a cold beer, and their wings are just delicious! We recommend calling ahead to make sure there is enough room on the patio for both you and your pup, as they sometimes get busy.

Jiffy Treet, Bedford

Jiffy Treat is another local favorite, serving up an overwhelming selection of tasty ice cream. Want to try Fruity Pebbles in your ice cream? Yes, please! Or maybe you like the simple, but delicious Butter Pecan? They have it. Jiffy Treat also serves dog friendly ice cream, so this just may be your pups favorite stop on the trip!

Dairy Bell, Mitchell

Located just outside of Spring Mill State Park, Dairy Bell is truly a hidden gem. After a long hike in the park with your pup, stop by Dairy Bell for a delicious cool refresher before you head on to your next adventure. Their soft serve is sure to hit the spot!

Lucky’s, Bedford

For tasty American cuisine, Lucky’s has it all. This old-fashioned diner serves up cheeseburgers, Coney dogs, buffalo chicken sandwiches, tenderloins and fries. Dine in. Take out. Indoor and outdoor seating. Bring your doggo and sit outside to eat. Leave room for the dozens of desserts, including pie!

Pet Friendly Places to Stay

A weekend getaway with your furry friend would just not be complete without a place to “sit and stay.” These Limestone Country hotels are dog-friendly and are sure to make you feel right at home.

Spring Mill State Park Inn, Mitchell

Located in the historical Spring Mill State Park, Spring Mill Inn has 74 rooms, an indoor pool, meeting rooms, a dining room and a gift shop. Relax with a coffee beside the fireplace in the dining room or watch the birds outside on the patio. Take a lovely stroll by the lake with your pup and watch the sun set after having a delicious buffet dinner in the Inn’s dining room. Perhaps a doggie bag will be in order.
